Dr. Terry Fulmer's blog on the The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) led Aging and Disability Business Institute website discusses innovations to improve care that The Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Programs (GWEPs) and the Area Agencies of Aging (AAAs) are collaborating on.

"GWEPs & Community-Based Programs: Improving the Quality of Care for Older Adults" discusses the work of the GWEPs, established in 2015 by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to develop a health care workforce that maximizes patient and family engagement and improves health outcomes for older adults by integrating geriatrics with primary care. HRSA awarded 44 organizations in 29 states more than $35 million to train and educate health professionals, direct care workers and family caregivers, 25 of which have chosen to work directly with AAAs.

Read about exciting new partnerships and the need for more documentation of innovations in communities on work by GWEPs, the AAA and other community-based organizations.
