JAGs Paper on Aging, the Medical Subspecialties, and Career Development

JAGs2

The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (JAGs) paper discusses integrating geriatrics into the specialties of internal medicine, which historically have not focused on the needs of older adults.

However, as Marcus Escobedo, JAHF Senior Program Officer, and colleagues write, "..there has been enormous progress in the integration of geriatrics and aging research into the medical and surgical subspecialties, and topics once considered to be geriatric concerns are becoming mainstream in medicine, but this integration remains a work in progress and will need to adapt to changes associated with healthcare reform."

The paper is related to The Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine's project, Integrating Geriatrics into the Specialties of Internal Medicine Renewal: Capitalizing on Forward Momentum.
