Telemundo discussed the U.S. Trust Insights on Wealth and Worth 2017 survey findings on different generations' ideas of "What is 'Being Old'?" For instance, the youngest interviewees said that old age would begin at 59 years old while Baby Boomers placed old age starting at 73.

They interviewed Terry Fulmer, president of The John A. Hartford Foundation and asked her why there are these differences around when old age starts. Her answer was: "The main reason is longevity. At the beginning of the last century, the life expectancy was 40 years; today, it reaches 80 years. Clearly, there is a generational difference in what it means to be 'old,'” explained Dr. Terry Fulmer, a geriatric nurse, president of The John A Hartford Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the health of older adults.

"Age is just a number. We must focus on the ability to do daily activities on our own, quality of life and social participation. We must embrace all stages of life with enthusiasm," said Dr. Fulmer.
