Campaign and Resources: PREPARE For Your Care COVID-19

Prepare for your care

A coalition of national and state health care leaders, led by the UCSF-based PREPARE for Your Care program, has launched a public health awareness campaign and resources, "Be Prepared: Take Control," in English and Spanish to help people make plans in the event of illness.

The goal of the campaign is to inspire people to take three actionable steps: 1) make a hospital go bag, 2) choose a medical decision maker, and 3) talk to your families about your health care wishes.

Among the coalition members supporting the campaign is The Conversation Project, a JAHF grantee and public engagement initiative with the goal to have every person’s wishes for end-of-life care expressed and respected.

“During this pandemic, many hospitalized people may not be able to speak for themselves, and sadly, family and friends cannot visit. Our frontline health care providers are desperate for any information about their patients’ medical wishes. One of the most time-consuming challenges health care workers are facing right now is finding their patients’ health care proxy,” states Rebecca Sudore, MD, FAAHPM, founder and director of PREPARE for Your Care.
