Welltower has announced the release of a report, "Development of the National Assisted Living Quality of Care Network and a Quality of Care Framework for Assisted Living Care."

The study report by the Johns Hopkins team outlines the work of a new national stakeholder group, The National Assisted Living Quality of Care Network, led by Bruce Leff, MD. The stakeholder group includes assisted living operators, academics, industry representatives and family members of parents receiving assisted living care.

Five key pillars, or domains, of care quality in assisted living were identified that can serve as the basis for national quality standards in assisted living:

  • culture
  • environment
  • health care services
  • coordination and integration with community
  • resident quality of life
