The American Hospital Association's (AHA) Value Initiative has released a case study focused on the home hospital program at Boston's Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH).

In the home hospital care program, patients receive hospital-level care in the comfort of their own homes.

The case study notes that BWH's program has helped lower costs and readmissions. In addition, patients in the program experienced fewer clinical interventions, more physical activity and comparable patient satisfaction scores as those being cared for in the hospital.

The John A. Hartford Foundation has supported the early development of the Hospital-at-Home model and is currently funding work at Mount Sinai in New York to help spread the model to more sites.
