Representatives Peter Roskam, Michael C. Burgess, Debbie Dingell, and Mike Thompson have reintroduced H.R. 3262 to extend the Independence at Home Medical Practice Demonstration Program (IAH) from five to seven years.

Congressman Peter Roskam cites Dr. Thomas Cornwell, Chief Executive Officer of the Home Centered Care Institute (HCCI), and JAHF grantee, as being "a champion for bringing primary care to seniors in the comfort of their own homes" who "brought this important demonstration program to my attention." Created in 2010, IAH provides home-based primary care to high-need Medicare beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions, and has proved successful in cutting costs while providing valuable increases in benefits to high-need beneficiaries.

Additionally, The Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health held a Hearing on “Examining Bipartisan Legislation to Improve the Medicare Program” on July 20, 2017. Dr. K. Eric De Jonge, President-Elect, American Academy of Home Care Medicine, testified on "Independence at Home (IAH): HR 3263 Value of Home-Based Primary Care for Frail Elders and Medicare."
