Healthaffairs

Health Affairs July issue takes a comprehensive look at challenges and innovations in advanced illness and end-of-life care. This special issue, funded by The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, includes articles by grantees and partners of The John A. Hartford Foundation.

Papers include “A National Strategy for Palliative Care” co-authored by JAHF Senior Program Officer Amy Berman, with Diane Meier, Anthony Back, Susan Block, Janet Corrigan and R. Sean Morrison and "High-Cost Dual Eligibles’ Service Use Demonstrates Need For Supportive And Palliative Models Of Care" by Julie Bynum, et al.

The article "Foundation Funding For Palliative And End-Of-Life Care" notes that the JAHF-supported Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness has been convened by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. The roundtable aims to implement recommendations of a 2015 Institute of Medicine report titled Dying in America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences Near the End of Life.
