NASEM Workshop: Integrating Health Care and Social Services for People with Serious Illness

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness is holding a public workshop on July 19 in Washington DC, "Integrating Health Care and Social Services for People with Serious Illness."

The workshop will feature invited presentations and panel discussions on topics that may include:

  • the range of health care and social services necessary to improve care for those with serious illness
  • the strengths, limitations, and impact of existing models of integrated services delivery, the Bridge Model, and novel, innovative approaches to community-based integrated care programs
  • the gaps in and barriers to the delivery of integrated services
  • potential use of blended/braided financing approaches
  • the role of family caregivers in providing social supports and services, and caregiver needs
  • gaps in research and evidence to support potential policy changes to advance the integration of health care and social services deliver
