Past American Geriatrics Society (AGS) President and veteran researcher James T. Pacala, MD, MS, AGSF, gave an illustrated lecture on AGS's history, 75 Years of Caring for Older Adults, on the occasion of the society's 75th anniversary earlier this year.

Founded in 1942, AGS is a nationwide, nonprofit organization comprised of nearly 6,000 geriatrics healthcare professionals, and has, for more than seven decades, been leading efforts in patient care, research, professional and public education, and public policy - all aimed at improving the health, independence, and quality of life of all older people.

Dr. Pacala's tour de force lecture through each decade was extensively illustrated and full of historical details. The anniversary lecture was supported by The John A. Hartford Foundation.
