Rani E. Snyder, MPA, Program Director at The John A. Hartford Foundation, has written a Spotlight blog for the Eldercare Workforce Alliance (EWA), "Building Age-Friendly Health Systems and a Workforce to Match."

To meet the needs of older adults, "our health systems – and their workforce – must become more age-friendly: better prepared to provide care that matches our goals and preferences as we age."

The blog explores connections between the Age-Friendly Health Systems initiative and the health care workforce. Examples are given of initiatives that help support the health care workforce including training modules being finalized by the CATCH-ON GWEP at Rush University; a workforce development initiative for nurses, other hospital staff and family caregivers who are performing medical/nursing tasks; a program for surgical teams; and an initiative for walk-in retail pharmacy clinic staff.
