Health Affairs GrantWatch article, "Foundation Funding In Global Health" overview of recent international funding, describes The John A. Hartford Foundation's support of the Aging Society Index and the State Aging Index.
"Researchers from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health and the Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics at the University of Southern California, led by John Rowe at Columbia, developed a barometer estimating “how countries are adapting to the dramatic increases in the number and proportion of older persons” ....Among the five domains of the evidence-based index is well-being, which measures the state of being healthy."
"The index evaluates sixteen countries in Europe, plus Japan and the United States. (Next the index will compare US states in terms of how they are adapting to the increase in older people.)"
