Stanford Medicine's blog, SCOPE, has published an article, "A Stage IV Cancer Patient Discusses What It Means to Live Well with Serious Illness."

The article talks about Amy Berman's Jonathan J. King Lecture at Stanford University, October 9, 2018, on the topic, 'What Matters Most to People Living With Serious Illness.' Amy Berman, RN, LHD, FAAN, is a Senior Program Officer with The John A. Hartford Foundation.

"The first oncologist Berman met with asked what was important to her...."I want the Niagara Falls trajectory," Berman said, "I want to feel good, good, good and then drop off the cliff." This oncologist said she could make a treatment plan that would keep Berman feeling well as long as she could."

"Palliative care, Dr. Berman said, is the best friend of the seriously ill."
