Article: Eradicating Elder Abuse is Everyone’s Responsibility
Next Avenue has published an article, "Eradicating Elder Abuse is Everyone’s Responsibility," by Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, President of The John A. Hartford Foundation.
"While health care providers have clear-cut roles to play in identifying potential elder mistreatment, each one of us is responsible, too," notes Dr. Fulmer, adding that elder mistreatment takes a tremendous toll on older adults, families, communities and society, and is a public health crisis.
In the article, she describes emergency department initiatives, elder abuse shelters, and public reporting agencies that are helping to address this public health crisis, along with resources that are on offer to help people take action.
