The Business Case for Becoming an Age-Friendly Health System and ROI Calculators

AFHS Business Case 600

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) has released "The Business Case for Becoming an Age-Friendly Health System" and two Return on Investment (ROI) Calculators for inpatient and outpatient settings.

Included in the Business Case for Becoming an Age-Friendly Health System are case studies from St. Vincent Medical Group in Indiana and Hartford Hospital in Connecticut. The two accompanying Age-Friendly Health Systems ROI Calculators, one for hospitals and one for ambulatory settings, are to help finance and clinical teams work together on collecting and analyzing relevant data. There are separate instructions on how to use each calculator.

These tools are part of Age-Friendly Health Systems, an initiative of The John A. Hartford Foundation and IHI in partnership with the American Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Association of the United States. The Business Case was developed with support from The SCAN Foundation.
