Mc Knights University connections showcase nursing homes as incredible place to work

McKnight's Long-Term Care News has published an article, "University Connections Showcase Nursing Homes As ‘Incredible Place’ to Work."

The article discusses the "Pennsylvania Teaching Nursing Home" pilot project launched in July 2021. The pilot engages nursing students and exposes them to clinical experience in a nursing home setting.

Two years on, the project is being expanded. In addition, the program's Curriculum Committee worked with Joanne Reifsnyder, Professor, University of Maryland School of Nursing, and her co-authors to develop a textbook that provides an evidence-based roadmap for high-quality, age-friendly care in nursing homes.

The program sets out to improve resident outcomes, enrich the clinical skills of nursing home staff, promote retention and enhance nursing faculty and student knowledge of nursing home care.
