President Terry Fulmer and Senior Program Officer Jane Carmody Honored for Contributions to the Field of Nursing
New York, NY (October 8, 2021)—The American Academy of Nursing (AAN) has designated The John A. Hartford Foundation’s (JAHF) President, Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, a Living Legend for her leadership and contributions to the field of nursing.
The Living Legend designation is given to individuals who make significant contributions to the field of nursing by improving the lives of other nurses, clinicians and patients. Living Legends demonstrate leadership and influence that advances public health, strengthens communities and improves health system performance.
“This recognition by the Academy is a great honor and I am humbled by it,” said Dr. Fulmer. “Nurses nationwide work tirelessly to provide and improve quality care for older adults, and this has never been more true than in the past 18 months. I dedicate this recognition to them. I’d also like to congratulate my fellow designees Drs. Betty Ferrell, Susan Hassmiller and Marla Salmon and thank them for their invaluable contributions to our shared vocation.”
Also recognized by AAN is JAHF Senior Program Officer Jane Carmody, DNP, MBA, RN, who was named a 2021 Fellow. Dr. Carmody was selected as an Academy Fellow because of her significant contributions to health care and the profession. Through numerous leadership positions across the health care spectrum, Dr. Carmody has worked tirelessly to advance quality of care for older adults. Fellows contribute their collective expertise to the Academy, engaging with health leaders nationally and globally to improve health, and achieving health equity by influencing policy through nursing leadership, innovation, and science.
Both Drs. Fulmer and Carmody received their honors during the Academy’s annual Health Policy Conference in Washington, DC.
