"While accurate data on the effects of COVID-19 in nursing homes are essential, the number of deaths in nursing homes has been far too high, regardless of the number. We need to radically rethink the role and design of nursing homes, how to support staff, and ensure guidance from public health leaders is followed, in order to protect residents and staff. We can and must do better and that will require collaboration across the political spectrum and between government agencies, nursing homes, and the communities they serve."
