In the words of our Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, MD, “This verdict can't bring back George Floyd or erase the wounds of ongoing racial injustice. But the millions who spoke up for justice remind us change happens when we have the courage to stand up for one another. Let us not stop until all can live with safety, dignity and respect.”
The John A. Hartford Foundation will continue to review and improve our internal processes, train our staff, and continuously review our requirements in grant proposals related to diversity, equity and inclusion. We will continue to fund organizations that place racial equity at the center of their work, learn from our grantees and partners, and do all we can to dismantle racism.
