GEDC Webinar: Community Paramedicine and Geriatric Emergency Departments
The Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC) is holding a webinar January 22 on "Community Paramedicine and Geriatric Emergency Departments."
Community paramedicine expands across rural and urban settings and has the potential to reduce emergency department (ED) readmission rates for older adults. Paramedics are uniquely positioned to observe and assess patients in their homes, providing critical insights into determinants of health outcomes.
The webinar will introduce and explore community paramedicine, show how it can be integrated with older person care in EDs and feature stories from front-line practitioners about the benefits and challenges of community paramedicine in providing care for older adults post-ED discharge.
Speakers include:
- Jose G. Cabañas MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Wake County Manager, Raleigh, NC
- Neil Dinesh Dattani, MD, CCFP(EM), Emergency Physician, William Osler Health System (WOHS) WOHS, Clinical Lead, Peel Region Community Paramedicine Program, Toronto, ON
