The Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) has recommended two alternative payment models (APMs) to the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary. One model was developed by C-TAC and the other by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM).

As C-TAC notes in a blog, the two APMs are designed to support people living with serious and advanced illness. PTAC's vote sends C-TAC’s Advanced Care Model (ACM) and AAHPM’s Patient and Caregiver Support for Serious Illness to HHS Secretary Alex Azar for his approval for a funded Medicare payment demonstration.

PTAC's recommendation was also discussed in an article in Modern Healthcare, "Federal Advisory Panel Urges Creation of Palliative-care Model."
