Grants Manager

Jon Miller is the Grants Manager for The John A. Hartford Foundation. In this role, he leads the Foundation's pre- and post-award administrative processes, handles forecasting and Board reports, and oversees the Foundation's Fluxx grants management system.

Mr. Miller has over 20 years of experience in the field of philanthropy, working at both an infrastructure institution—the Foundation Center (now Candid)—and a grantmaking organization—amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research. He began his career at the Foundation Center, where he developed the Center’s relationships with community foundations across the country in order to encourage data-sharing and transparency, and helped build the Center’s efforts to maintain and analyze information about the operations, programs and particularly the grant-related activities of the nation’s community foundations. After over a decade at the Foundation Center, Mr. Miller joined amfAR, where he served for eight years as Grants Administrator for the Research portfolio, with oversight of HIV cure research grants to U.S. and international research institutions. He also performed the duties of system administrator for amfAR's GMS, building and maintaining grantee- and reviewer-facing portals and deploying the system for internal staff.

Mr. Miller received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychobiology from Drew University and earned his Masters of Arts in Cinema Studies at New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
