The American Hospital Association (AHA) is hosting its 2024 Accelerating Health Equity conference in Kansas City, May 7-9.

The conference, led by the AHA Community Health Improvement (ACHI) network and the Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE), will focus on "Driving Change Together." Sessions include ageism which is being featured for the first time at the conference in a keynote sponsored by JAHF.

The conference brings together professionals focused on improving community and population health and building partnerships, and professionals striving to advance diversity and inclusion within hospital management and executive levels.

The conference will host a plenary session each day:

  • Opening Plenary Session with Clint Smith, May 7 at 1pm CT/12pm ET. Smith is the author of How the World Is Passed and staff writer at The Atlantic. Smith believes that understanding our history is the key to understanding the world and giving us the tools to fight for racial justice.
  • Day 2 Plenary: Pillsbury Theatre Performance, May 8 at 8am CT/7am ET. Minneapolis-based Pillsbury House Theatre will perform its award-winning Breaking Ice program. The performance focuses on starting and facilitating productive conversations about diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

Applewhite pushes back on the narrative that two-thirds of life should be framed as a decline and urges audiences to identify age biases prevalent throughout modern society.
