Celebrate Older Americans Month 2024

AOM2024 560

Every May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2024 theme is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being.

The Powered by Connection theme offers the opportunity to explore the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combatting isolation, loneliness, and other issues. You can participate by:

  • sharing facts about the mental, physical, and emotional health benefits of social connection and how it contributes to overall well-being,
  • promoting resources and connecting older adults with local services, and
  • challenging your professional and personal networks to prioritize meaningful social connections and share the benefits.

The 2024 logos and posters, social media graphics and activity ideas are available to help you celebrate OAM in your community, in addition to sample articles and proclamations. Don't forget to share your #OlderAmericansMonth plans, stories, & events on social media and inspire older adults to share what connection means to them on social media using the hashtag #PoweredByConnection.

JAHF and its grantees are changing the conversation about aging by promoting age-friendly care. Here are resources from just a few initiatives that represent the vision of Powered by Connection:
