Milbank Memorial Fund has published an article, "Public Health Can Help Older Americans Live Healthy and Independent Lives," by John Auerbach, President and CEO of Trust for America’s Health, and Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, President of The John A. Hartford Foundation.

The article discusses five roles that offer a framework for public health leaders, by working with aging agencies and other community partners, to help older adults live healthy and independent lives. These key strategies are detailed along with examples from state and county health departments in Florida, Oregon, and California.

These roles are also discussed in the report, “Framework for Creating Age-Friendly Public Health Systems,” developed by Trust for America’s Health (TFAH) and The John A. Hartford Foundation, who are partnering to spread this model nationwide and will soon be offering training and support to help state and local health departments become Age-Friendly Public Health agencies.
