Public Policy & Aging Report Journal Article: The Intersection Between Aging and Public Health
The Gerontology Society of America's (GSA) Public Policy & Aging Report has published a journal article, "The Intersection Between Aging and Public Health."
The article describes how age-friendly public health is crucial to the health and well-being of older adults, as shown by the Age-Friendly Public Health System (AFPHS) demonstrations across the country. The authors highlight how collaboration among all sectors is necessary to support the population in aging well, emphasizing public health as the perfect neutral convener to coordinate health systems and aging services. They note that Trust for America's Health (TFAH) and JAHF are calling on "every local and state public health department to bring the AFPHS Framework into their overall core operations so public health can engage in the all-sector response to our nation’s changing demographics and needs."
This article is co-authored by Megan Wolfe at TFAH, and by Sandra Yu, Jane Carmody and Rani Snyder at JAHF.
