The American College of Emergency Physicians Geriatric Emergency Department Dashboard

American College of Emergency Physicians ACEP Geriatric Emergency Department Dashboard

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Program (GEDA) has created a Geriatric Emergency Department Dashboard.

ACEP is encouraging all active Geriatric Emergency Departments (GED) to participate. The dashboard is an online tool with a rich source of information that will help GEDs and others across the country to view resources about the care of older adults and visualize key metrics through innovative, actionable ways.

The dashboard:

  • Showcases the impact of your GED care interventions through metrics visualization
  • Displays clinical outcome measures relevant to your GED to support high-value care
  • Helps GED leaders identify areas for operational improvement

Below are some key dashboard metrics from the dashboard:

  • Emergency department encounters by age group
  • Percentage of patients aged 65+ years who are boarding for more than 4 hours
  • Inpatient admissions from the ED for patients aged 65+ years
  • All-cause 30-day same-ED revisits for patients aged 65+ years
  • Mean length of stay for patients aged 65+ years
  • Number of select screenings performed following the GED model
