Advocacy Core Support: Advancing Health & Long-Term Care for Older Adults (Diverse Elders Coalition)

Grant Summary

General operating support grants to the Diverse Elders Coalition (DEC) and three other advocacy organizations—the CARE Fund, Center for Medicare Advocacy and Justice in Aging—will continue to help ensure access to high-quality health care and economic security for older adults and support for family caregivers and direct care workers.

Since 2018, JAHF has funded DEC and its six member organizations to build program and policy advocacy capacity to support diverse family caregivers. The six member organizations are the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA), NCBA, the National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA), the National Indian Council on Aging (NICOA), SAGE: Advocacy and Services for LGBTQ+ Elders, and the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC). Building off JAHF’s support to develop the Caring for Those Who Care curriculum for health and social service providers working with diverse family caregivers, the renewed support will help DEC transition the curriculum to the SAGECare platform, expand its caregiving policy advocacy, and continue leading national communications and coalition coordination efforts.
