Strengthening Policy to Support Older Adults and Their Caregivers: General Operating Support (PHI)
Grant Summary
General operating support grant to PHI and three other advocacy organizations - the Center for Medicare Advocacy, Community Catalyst and Justice in Aging - will help ensure access to high-quality health care for older adults and support for family caregivers. Each of these organizations has a particular focus on groups that face disproportionate burdens and poorer health outcomes such as low-income older adults, older adults of color and the direct care workers who care for them.
PHI works at the local, state, and national levels to improve care for older adults and people with disabilities by strengthening the direct care workforce, including home care workers and nursing assistants. PHI designs trainings and other workforce interventions to help direct care workers deliver high-quality care that lead to better outcomes, advocates in partnership with other organizations at various levels for policy reforms that improve direct care jobs, conducts in-depth policy research on a range of workforce-related topics, and educates the public and key decision-makers on critical issues facing these workers. PHI’s work benefits tens of thousands of direct care workers, clients, and family members annually and their public policy reports and research frequently serve as its advocacy vehicles.
