STATEMENT ON SENATE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT

“More than 80% of U.S. adults support the Older Americans Act (OAA), which has helped people age with dignity while saving taxpayers money for six decades.

“By voting unanimously to reauthorize the OAA, the Senate has reaffirmed its commitment to the wellbeing of older adults. Now, the House must join the Senate in making the same commitment.

“As the number of older adults in our country increases, the demand for services like home-delivered meals and adult day care is growing rapidly. The OAA must be reauthorized to continue providing older adults with the services they depend on.

“The OAA rises above partisan politics. With its reauthorization, the Senate has shown the American people that it can pass popular, effective and bipartisan policies that improve lives. The House should now do the same.”
