ACL Report: Mapping Caregiver Navigation Services - An Environmental Scan of Current Practices
The National Caregiver Support Collaborative (NCSC) led by the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) has published an environmental scan of caregiver navigation services in programs funded by the Older Americans Act.
To address priorities outlined in the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, the NCSC is working to strengthen caregiver navigation services across the aging network. These services help family and informal caregivers connect with the information, resources and support they need throughout their caregiving journey.
The report examines the current landscape through a literature review, surveys, listening sessions, and interviews with family caregivers and aging network participants representing all 50 states.
Among its findings, the report notes that many caregivers do not identify themselves as caregivers, service availability varies across communities, and agencies face funding, staffing and outcome measurement challenges.
