AHA Podcast: Why Age-Friendly Care Is Becoming a Healthcare Standard

AHA Podcast RES Aug 2026

In an episode of the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Advancing Health podcast, JAHF President Rani Snyder talks with AHA Vice President Kristin Preihs about the growth and impact of age-friendly care.

Snyder discusses how the Age-Friendly Health Systems movement has grown to more than 6,000 sites of care and how the 4Ms Framework is helping reduce falls and readmissions and improve outcomes for older adults. She says the movement is now “moving beyond just adoption of the 4Ms toward reliable delivery across entire systems.”

Snyder also encourages eligible Age-Friendly Health Systems to apply for the AHA Age-Friendly Healthcare Impact Award by Sept. 25. She discusses what the award committee is looking for and how applying can help organizations assess their progress and recognize their teams’ accomplishments.
