American College of Surgeons Geriatric Surgery Verification Program Webinar Recording: Improve Surgical Care for Older Patients and Comply with CMS Requirements
The American College of Surgeons held a Geriatric Surgery Verification (GSV) program webinar on August 20, "Improve Surgical Care for Older Patients and Comply with CMS Requirements."
The webinar shared how the GSV program can help hospitals improve care for older surgical patients while meeting CMS Age-Friendly Hospital Measure requirements.
The GSV program offers a proven framework to drive better outcomes, shorten hospital stays, reduce readmissions and enhance the quality of life for older adults undergoing surgery.
The GSV program aligns with the CMS Age-Friendly Hospital Measure, a new requirement for all hospitals participating in the CMS Inpatient Quality Reporting Program. Compliance will be publicly reported beginning in 2026, making now the time to prepare.
During the webinar, the ACS GSV team provided a quick overview of the program and shared how to schedule a brief consultation to ask questions and discuss the application process.
