Center for Medicare Advocacy Webinar: Observation Status Appeals

Center for Medicare Advocacy Webinar Observation Status Appeals 1

The Center for Medicare Advocacy (CMA) is holding a webinar January 22 on "Observation Status Appeals."

This webinar will offer a preview of the appeals resulting from the Center’s class action on behalf of beneficiaries who have been harmed by “observation status.” The appeals will allow certain hospital patients who are reclassified from inpatient to observation to appeal their status and potentially gain Medicare coverage of skilled nursing facility services that they otherwise would have to forgo or pay for out of pocket.

Join class counsel as they review the new regulations and procedures, which are expected to become operational in early 2025. The webinar will review the basics of both types of new appeals (retrospective and prospective), who can appeal, and steps that people who think they are class members can take. The presentation will conclude with Q&A.

CMA previously held an Observation Status Appeals webinar on December 17. The webinar slides are available for download along with the Observation Appeals Flowchart and Observation Webinar Resource Page. Watch the webinar recording:
