Dr. Linda Fried, dean of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and former director of the Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine at Johns Hopkins, was featured in a June 25 article in the New York Times by Karen Pennar called "Unafraid of Aging." Dr. Linda Fried, an epidemiologist and geriatrician who is dean of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, and former director of a Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine at Johns Hopkins, was featured in a series of articles and videos about leaders in science in the June 25 New York Times. In the article by Karen Pennar, "Unafraid of Aging," Dr. Fried encourages students, professors and others to ask questions and ponder policy options that can support an aging world population. Her mandate, she explains, is to lead a school that will give a new generation the tools needed to deal with global challenges in public health.
