Policymakers and aging providers face a wide array of opportunities and challenges as the older population in the United States continues to grow. What is often overlooked is that an ever-increasing proportion of older Americans hail from people of color, American Indian and Alaska Native, and/or LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) communities. Members of these diverse elder communities face particular challenges. Moreover, their life experiences and perspectives offer uniquely valuable windows into essential, new ways of thinking about aging policy and service delivery. This webinar will provide an opportunity to learn about the unique issues facing members of diverse elder communities, the innovative and successful responses that are emerging to address their needs, and the role of philanthropy in meeting those needs.
