Medication Management and the CMS Hospital Measure GEDC webinar 1

The Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC) hosted the second session of its 2025 CMS Hospital Measure webinar series. The webinar, "Medication Management and the CMS Hospital Measure," was held July 14, and the recording and slides are now available.

The webinar series featured expert advice on each of the five domains of the CMS Age-Friendly Hospital Measure. During this webinar, experts discussed how emergency departments can prepare to meet domain two of the new CMS Hospital Measure by introducing policies and procedures for responsible medication management.

The webinar was of particular interest to pharmacists and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the ED. Speakers explored best practices in medication management in the ED that enhance care of older patients, provided practical examples from pharmacists working in Geriatric EDs about useful tools to implement, including in rural and remote EDs, and introduced the GEDC Toolkit on Geri ED Medication Management.

It supports safe prescribing and de-prescribing for complex older patients.
