HMS/Brigham and Women's Hospital Course: Perioperative Care of the Older Adult
Harvard Medical School (HMS) is offering a live virtual two-day course on the "Perioperative Care of the Older Adult" on May 22-23.
This online course - designed for frontline clinicians, including Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), surgical trainees, nurses and surgical attendings - offers in-depth training in geriatric care, focusing on the unique needs of older patients. The course will provide training in geriatric syndromes and the 4Ms of Age-Friendly Health Systems: Medication, Mobility, what Matters, and Mentation, and managing multi-complexity in older adults.
Participants will learn how to prevent common hazards of hospitalization—such as delirium, falls, infections, loss of function, and caregiver strain—that can significantly impact patient mortality, complications, and other adverse outcomes.
