Invitation to Join: HANYS 2025 New York State Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Collaborative
The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is inviting hospitals to join its next statewide Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) Collaborative.
GEDA is a nationwide initiative developed by emergency medicine leaders to ensure that older adults receive well-coordinated, appropriate and quality care during every emergency department encounter.
This program improves the care of older adults in the ED by promoting improvements in:
- Staffing and education
- Geriatric-focused policies and protocols, including transitions of care
- Quality improvement and metrics
- Optimal preparation of the environment
Hospitals that are successful in earning Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation deliver high-quality, person-centered care to older adults and may improve their reputation and market share of patients in their community.
There are no fees to participate in the GEDA Collaborative. A limited number of scholarships are available to apply for initial 3 (Bronze) accreditation. There are three accreditation levels and hospitals may pursue bronze, silver or gold accreditation.
The collaborative is scheduled to start on April 21.
