NCQA Blog: Person-Centered Outcome Measures Are Approved for HEDIS MY 2027
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) announced that person-centered outcome (PCO) measures will be included in HEDIS Measurement Year 2027 for Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans and Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans.
The PCO measures focus on identifying, following up on and achieving goals that matter to people with complex care needs. This approach aligns with the 4Ms Framework of Age-Friendly Health Systems by focusing on what matters to the individual and their family and caregivers.
HEDIS is one of the most widely used health care quality measurement systems in the U.S., making the inclusion of the PCO measures an important step toward integrating person-centered outcomes into how health care quality is measured.
