Creating the Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging

The American Society on Aging (ASA) has published a new article in Generations Now, "Creating the Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging."

The article spotlights the unique public-private partnership between the Administration for Community Living (ACL) and three philanthropic organizations—The John A. Hartford Foundation, The SCAN Foundation and West Health—coming together to engage the community in developing a national plan on aging and form the National Plan on Aging Community Engagement Collaborative.

These three organizations all support improving care for older adults and are also leaders at the state level in promoting multisector plans for aging. The goal of these collaborations is to coordinate vital programs, services and resources to create environments that support older adults and people aging with disabilities to live their best lives.

The article is written by Kari Benson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Aging, Kelly Cronin, Deputy Administrator for Innovation and Partnership, Vicki Gottlich, Deputy Administrator for Policy and Evaluation and Jennifer Baker, advisor, all at the Administration for Community Living; Amy Herr, Director of Health Policy, West Health; Rani Snyder, Vice President, Program and Scott Bane, Senior Program Officer, both at The John A. Hartford Foundation; and Narda Ipakchi, Vice President of Policy and Erin Westphal, Program Officer, both at The SCAN Foundation.

Several of the authors are participating in Multisector Plans for Aging-related sessions at ASA's On Aging conference:
