GSA Launches Reframing Aging Website in the Next Phase of the Reframing Aging Initiative

GSA Reframing

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) has launched the next phase of the Reframing Aging Initiative with funding from four philanthropic organizations and a new GSA Reframing Aging website.

The Leaders of Aging Organizations (LAO) who initiated Reframing Aging in 2014, partnered with FrameWorks Institute to address negative views of aging, promote more accurate perceptions of aging, and develop supportive aging policies. FrameWorks Institute undertook research about the public’s perceptions of aging, and tested strategies and tools in “Gaining Momentum,” that were found empirically to reduce implicit bias.

This next phase will build an infrastructure to sustain the initiative’s momentum; engage professionals in the field to increase their awareness of the initiative and the resources available to them; provide training and technical assistance; and support local, regional, and state organizations in their efforts to counter pervasive negative beliefs about aging.
