Health Affairs has published a blog, "Family Caregivers: The Unrecognized Strength Behind Hospital At Home," authored by United Hospital Fund Senior Fellow, Carol Levine, and JAHF Vice President for Program, Rani E. Snyder.

The authors discuss how COVID-19 pandemic created opportunity for the expansion of home care and how home care can aid family caregivers. "Actions taken to meet the COVID-19 crisis can become longer-term opportunities to advance person- and family-centered care. Hospital at Home (HaH) programs are a case in point."

The blog gives a detailed description of home care, its applications and its synergies with family caregiving. Recommendations are given for how home care programs can help family caregivers. These recommendations include: incorporating family caregivers into future research, increasing recognition for the work family caregivers do and providing family caregivers with more resources.

The blog is part of a new series on Age-Friendly Health supported by The John A. Hartford Foundation (JAHF).
