Call for Applications: The Journalists in Aging Fellows Program

2026 GSA Journalist in Aging Fellowship

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and the Journalists Network on Generations are welcoming applications for the 2026 Journalists in Aging Fellows Program.

The program is seeking journalists from U.S. news outlets who are interested in covering issues related to aging to add to its over 900 stories that have been produced by 258 alumni over the past 16 years. Selected fellows will attend the 2026 GSA Annual Scientific Meeting in National Harbor, MD, from November 4 to 7, receiving a stipend of $1,500 and reimbursement for travel, hotel and meal expenses.

Over the course of the program, fellows will complete one short-term story and one long-term in-depth project focused on a research-based aspect of aging. The fellowship aims to educate journalists about issues in aging so they can spread awareness by disseminating accurate information about new scientific findings, policy debates, innovations, and evidence-based solutions to the American public. The application deadline is Friday, July 24.
