GEDC Resources: The Value of Geriatric EDs
The Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative (GEDC) has published new resources highlighting the clinical and operational benefits of geriatric emergency departments (EDs) and making the case for hospitals and health systems to invest in age-friendly emergency care.
The blog post outlines how geriatric ED care can help reduce avoidable hospital admissions and return visits, improve patient and staff satisfaction, and support better care transitions. It also highlights evidence-based interventions, including falls prevention, delirium screening and geriatric-focused nursing care, and provides information about Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA).
An accompanying editable slide deck is designed to help hospital leaders make the case for investing in geriatric emergency care to the C-suite and boards of directors.
