Mobility Change Package and Toolkit

Cover

In partnership with The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) and as part of a Health and Aging Policy Fellowship, Dr. Sharon Inouye has released the Mobility Change Package and Toolkit.

Dr. Inouye proposed developing a strategy to improve mobility and decrease use of bed and chair alarms in hospitalized seniors for her John A. Hartford Foundation supported Fellowship project, and, with collaborators, created a Mobility Action Group with over 100 participating U.S. hospitals. The Change Package and Mobility Action Group Toolkit was initially developed to assist with this initiative; and it has now been adapted for public use.

The change package is a conceptual framework, roadmap, and step-by-step guide to assist healthcare organizations in implementing a Mobility Program. The package includes and extensive toolkit of resources, including mobility protocols; guides for tracking and recording mobility outcomes; and sample patient brochures, goal signs, and certificates; a comprehensive bibliography and first-hand accounts from sites with active Mobility Programs.
