The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Champion Award Winner: Amy Berman

The Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) has announced their 2023 award winners. Included is Amy Berman, RN, LHD, FAAN, Senior Program Officer at The John A. Hartford Foundation, who is the HPNA Champion Award Winner.

HPNA was established in 1986 and is the national professional organization that represents the specialty of palliative nursing, which includes hospice and palliative nurses. The HPNA Champion Award, formerly known as the Presidential Citation Award, recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on hospice and palliative care through advocacy, community involvement or practice.

Amy Berman, RN, LHD, FAAN, works on The John A. Hartford Foundation’s development and dissemination of innovative, cost-effective models of care that improve health outcomes for older adults. Among these efforts, Ms. Berman is responsible for the Foundation’s work to advance Age-Friendly Health Systems, led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, in partnership with the American Hospital Association and the Catholic Health Association of the United States. She also leads many of the Foundation’s efforts focused on serious Illness and end-of-life care, including efforts to support palliative care.

The HPNA Champion Award will be given to Amy Berman at a ceremony to be held as part of the 2023 Annual Assembly in March 2023.
