Creating Careers in Geriatric Advanced Practice Nursing American Association of Colleges of Nursing

Grant Summary

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing will continue to administer a national scholarship program in order to promote and sustain careers in geriatric advanced practice nursing. These scholarships have succeeded in countering the national trend of reduced enrollment in master's programs and have attracted diverse candidates. The participating schools have forged strong relationships with community providers who are likely to become the employers of the graduates. A Foundation grant of $2.2 million has, to date, made 116 scholarship awards to students in 23 participating nursing schools. The program also emphasizes leadership and career development. Matching funds equal to Foundation support are provided by the schools.
