Nursing School Geriatric Investment Program

Grant Summary

The John A. Hartford Foundation awarded a grant to the American Academy of Nursing to improve the academic training and research resources dedicated to nursing care for older adults at seven schools of nursing including: Case Western Reserve University, and the Universities of Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Rochester, Texas/Houston, and Washington.Each of the schools will receive grants of $75,000 per year for three years. With an annual match of $25,000 from each recipient, the total funding per school will be $300,000. Grant recipients will use this support to take such steps as the following. increasing the number of future nursing faculty. improving the geriatric competence of current students and practitioners and improving clinical care.
