Paul B. Beeson Career Development Awards in Aging Research Partnership Renewal (2013, 2014, 2015)

Grant Summary

Since 1994 the Hartford Foundation has supported the Paul B. Beeson Career Development Awards in Aging Research program. To date, 180 scholars from across the nation have received the highly prestigious award, which provides physician faculty with $600,000 to $800,000 over three to five years for advanced research projects in aging. In addition to financial support, scholars receive career and leadership development through an annual meeting, expert mentoring, and networking opportunities with other leaders in aging research. This final Hartford grant for the program, administered by the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) in partnership with the National Institute on Aging (NIA), will help support three additional cohorts of seven scholars each, annual meetings for scholars and alumni through 2016, and time for the development of new partnerships to continue the program beyond Hartford funding.
